Every February, we honor Black History Month —a time to reflect, uplift, and celebrate the brilliance, resilience, and innovation of Black communities. At Tech & Toast™: Uncorked, we uncork the stories that don’t get told enough and amplify the voices that aren’t raised often enough.

This year, we’re raising our glasses to Black women—and allies—who are redefining what’s possible in industries where their presence has historically been overlooked. These women aren’t just showing up in steel-toe boots, lab coats, cockpits, and code editors. They’re leading, building, welding, designing, engineering, and innovating with a level of excellence that demands recognition.

They’re also reshaping how our male counterparts show up in spaces that were never built with us in mind.

But visibility alone isn’t the finish line.

Many of these women are ready for something more: a rebrand , a career transformation , or a business of their own —without stripping away the identity, culture, and craft that got them there in the first place.

That’s where Tech & Toast comes in.

Why this work matters beyond February

Women have been breaking molds in construction, automotive, aviation, maritime, energy, and tech for generations. Celebrating them matters because visibility reshapes possibility. When a young girl sees a Black woman trading spreadsheets for scaffolding—or a Latina engineer leading a robotics team—that image expands what she can imagine for herself.

Honoring this work during Black History Month is especially powerful. Black women have long been pioneers in fields framed as “off-limits,” yet their labor and leadership are too often rendered invisible. Spotlighting them reclaims history and shows that Black history is living —in the careers, inventions, firms, and communities Black women are building today.

This celebration shouldn’t live in one month alone. The same ethos belongs in every heritage observance. When we highlight women in non-traditional fields across Latina, Asian, Indigenous, and other community heritage months, we create culturally specific role models, strengthen intergenerational mentorship, and build networks that cross industries and geographies.

Representation opens the door. Structure, strategy, and community help you walk through it.

The gap no one talks about at the job site—or in the boardroom

Here’s what we see again and again in non-traditional industries:

  • A master welder with a waitlist of clients—but no LLC, no pricing strategy, no brand beyond word of mouth.
  • A cybersecurity analyst with executive potential—but no visibility strategy and no language for her own value.
  • A contractor tired of being the “only one”—ready to launch her own firm but overwhelmed by paperwork and imposter syndrome.
  • A pilot, mechanic, or logistics leader considering a pivot—who doesn’t want to start over as someone she’s not.

The problem isn’t talent. It isn’t work ethic. It isn’t even access alone.

It’s that nobody taught them how to translate craft into business, influence into brand, or experience into a next chapter—while staying rooted in who they are. That’s not a personality flaw. It’s a systems gap.

And it’s exactly what Tech & Toast: Uncorked was built to address.
